Concord, Nebraska Doris Jean Woodward, 84, died Saturday October 13, 2012 at her home. Services will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, October 17, at Thompson Chapel Funeral Home in Wakefield, Nebraska, with burial 10:30
a.m. Thursday morning at Eastview Cemetery at Allen, Nebraska and luncheon following at the United Methodist Church in Allen. Visitation will be from 3:00 until service at the Funeral Home.
Doris was born March 10, 1928 at Winside, Nebraska to parents Charles and Henrietta (Frahm) Baird. She attended the Winside schools and worked at home.
Doris married Thaine Woodward of Concord, Nebraska , on January 11, 1948. The couple were always together in their work and pleasure. They have been on the farm near Concord since marriage, raising their crops and tending with their family. Doris also worked outside the home at M.G. Waldbaum of Wakefield and for the Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel, Nebraska . She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Allen.
Numerous hobbies mixed in with her home work were gardening, cross stitch, embroidering, puzzle books, playing the piano, and an occasional trip to the lake or to the “RiverBoat”.
She is survived by her husband, Thaine, daughters; Donna and husband Gayle, daughter Nancy and her partner Sandy, and one son Harlan. She is also survived by three brothers; Earl and Vivian Baird, Warren and Bonny Baird, Edgar and Roberta Baird; and one sister, Alice and Neyron Woodward, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous, nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by parents and one brother, Russell Baird.
