Lady Blue Devils Fall To South Sioux City In Season Opener

WAYNE (KTCH/KCTY) - The Wayne High girls’ basketball team opened their season at home against South Sioux City last night.
The blue Devils came back from down 13 points to eventually lead by three late in the game. The Cardinals had a late rally of their own, winning 65-61. Four Blue Devils finished with double digits in scoring. Wayne was led by Sarah Maxson with 14 points, while Victoria Kranz and Angie Nelson each had 13 and Jalyn Zeiss added 12. The Blue Devil girls and boys will play at Battle Creek this evening. Both games can be heard on Big Red Country 104.9 and online at waynedailynews.com. The girls varsity will start at 6:15 with the boys following at around 8:00.
The Wayne High JV girls won their first game of the year last night, beating South Sioux City 53-51. Wayne outscored the Cardinals by five in the final quarter and held on to get the win. Leading the scoring for Wayne was
