Posted: 27 December, 2012

LINCOLN (AP) - Recycling centers for Christmas trees are now open in several Nebraska cities. The city of Lincoln will accept trees at seven sites through Jan. 13. A local tree service will turn them into free mulch, which is available on a first-come, first-served basis starting on Jan. 14. In Omaha, the group Keep Omaha Beautiful is accepting trees at 11 local sites on Dec. 29 and 30, and Jan. 5 and 6. In Norfolk, the Norfolk Fire Division is accepting trees through January 12th. Fire officials say the trees should be free of ornaments and tree stands.
