Funeral services for Ed Thies age 87 of Winside will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. He passed away Monday at his home in Winside. Visitation will be held at Hasemann Funeral Home in
Wayne on Friday from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with family present. Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date. Officiate: Rev. Bob Oleson Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.

Edward F. Thies was born April 20, 1925, on a farm near Winside, to Carl and Alice (Reeg) Thies. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Winside. He attended rural school at District #29 in Wayne County. Edward married Norma J. Korn, December 11, 1955, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayne. The couple farmed until moving into Winside in 1976. Ed was employed at Winside Grain and Feed until his retirement in 2005, at the age of 80. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne.
Ed is survived by his wife, Norma; their four sons, Doug (Dona) Thies and Steve (Julie) Thies all of Norfolk, Brad Thies of Kuna, ID and Jeff Thies of Winside; five grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Fuoss of Norfolk; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rosalie Diedrichsen, Harold Gathje, Mildred Weak, Richard and Gail Korn; several nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert.
