WSC Wrestling Club Wins Tournament

WAYNE - Wayne State College Wildcat Wrestlers defeated 2012 NCWA Div. II National Champs Wichita State and 2011 NCWA Div. II National Champs Northwest Missouri State University along with the Iowa State University Wrestling Club on Jan. 19 in Ames, Iowa.
"This outstanding team achievement was a direct result of "perseverance, dedication and hard work," said Coach Greg VanderWeil. "It's great to see these outstanding young men earn the respect they have been working so hard to achieve."
Eleven Wildcat Wrestlers earned 59.60 points to Wichita's 44.75, NWMSU's 25.75, and ISU's 24 points. The team was led by Senior Co-Champs Eric Held, Hinton, Iowa; and Matthew Peter, O'Neill at 157 lbs. Joining them as a champion was Jon Williams, a sophomore from Glenwood, Iowa; who claimed the title at 174 lbs.

3rd place - Sr., Eric Timmerman-George, Iowa 165 lbs.
4th place - So., Ryan Burnison-Louisville 235 lbs.
The Cats are back on the mats this weekend at Winona State University in Minnesota.
