WEST POINT - An Omaha man is faced with multiple charges after leading state troopers on a high speed chase throughout northeast Nebraska Saturday evening.
According a spokesperson from the Nebraska State Patrol, 26-year-old Damien Lovell Foster of Omaha was arrested at around 11:00 pm Saturday for flight to avoid arrest, obstructing a police officer, possession of more than an ounce of marijuana and several traffic offenses. The Patrol reports that Foster was allegedly the driver of a vehicle that fled from officers in excess of 100 miles per hour along Highway 275 between the Pilger/Highway 15 junction and the north edge of West Point at 6:20 Saturday evening. The vehicle was stopped by a spike strip, and the driver ran from the scene. Dogs and helicopters were used in the search, and officers from several law enforcement agencies assisted in the hunt for Foster, who was arrested near Fremont nearly five hours later when a State Patrol officer conducting a traffic stop recognized the passenger as the suspect involved in the pursuit.
