Cedar Catholic Avenges Previous Loss Over Wayne High Boys

NORFOLK (KTCH/KCTY) - The Wayne High boys’ basketball team was in action Friday night against Hartington Cedar Catholic in the semi-final round of the Mid-State Conference Tournament, played at Northeast Community College in Norfolk. In a rematch of a game that Wayne won 55-40 on January 18, Hartington CC was in the mood for revenge. The Trojans jumped out early to lead at halftime 31-21, after allowing the Blue Devils just five points in the second quarter. Cedar Catholic would continue the onslaught in the second half, as they would go on to win by a final of 64-53. CC’s James Kaiser led all scorers with 19 points, to go along with 17 from Taylor Kathol. Logan Feilmeier also added 11 points. Wayne had two players in double digits, as both Ben Hoskins and Grant Anderson tallied 12 points for the Blue Devils. Hartington CC improves to 14-6 on the year, while Wayne falls to 16-4. The Blue Devils will face O’Neill in the third-place game Saturday afternoon at 4:15. The game will be broadcast live on Big Red Country 104.9 and online at waynedailynews.com.
