Wayne High Girls Beat Hartington CC In Overtime

WAYNE (KTCH/KCTY) - The Wayne High girls’ basketball team hosted the Trojans of Hartington Cedar Catholic for Parents’ Night last night. The Lady Blue Devils had things working their way, as they pulled off the exciting win in overtime, 44-37. Wayne had to come from behind late in the fourth quarter in order to tie the game and force overtime, and then used a 14-7 scoring run in the extra period to separate themselves from the Trojans. Leading the way offensively for Wayne was Sarah Maxson with 14 points, along with Meagan Backer who had 12 points. The win improves the Lady Blue Devils to 11-11 overall on the year.

The Wayne High JV team also won over Hartington CC, by a score of 49-36. Leading the way in scoring for Wayne was Rachel Rauner with 15 points followed by Peyton Roach with 12 and Abbie Hix with 11.
