Iowa Man Killed In Accident Near Thurston

THURSTON - A Sergeant Bluff, Iowa man is dead following a one-vehicle accident Friday night in Thurston County. According to officials with the Nebraska State Patrol, the accident happened just before 8:00 pm Friday night when 30-year old Ray Michael Quigley was driving south on Nebraska Highway 9 near the Thurston Spur. His vehicle left the roadway, and troopers say Quigley over-corrected, went into a ditch on the east side of the road and hit a tree. Troopers say seat belts were not in use, and alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. The crash was investigated by officials with the Thurston County Sheriff’s office and Walthill Police.
