Wayne High Girls Repeat As State Bowling Champs

LINCOLN (KTCH/KCTY) - The Wayne High girls’ bowling team claimed the title of Class C State Champion for the second year in a row at the Nebraska High School Bowling Federation state tournament Sunday in Lincoln. The Wayne High girls’ bowling team claimed the title of Class C State Champion for the second year in a row at the Nebraska High School Bowling Federation state tournament Sunday in Lincoln. Wayne faced off against Wisner-Pilger in the finals, winning three games to none in a best-of-five-game series. Scores of the Baker format matches were 137-112, 190-170 and 163-158. Members of the team are Megan Aschoff, Miranda Denklau, Rachel Waddington, Nicole Craft, Lexi Sokol, Bailey Kudrna, and Sam Long. Denklau finished in fourth place individually for the Lady Blue Devils, while Waddington placed fifth and Craft was sixth. The team is coached by Mike Varley and assisted by Jamie Belt.
