Season Ends For Lady Blue Devils

Posted: 15 February, 2013

WISNER (KTCH/KCTY) - The Wayne High girls’ basketball team faced off against Winnebago last night in the final round of the C1-7 Subdistrict tournament at Wisner-Pilger High School. The game was tight early, as Wayne led 12-10 after the first quarter. But an 11-0 scoring run to close out the second quarter put the Indians up 27-22 at halftime. The Blue Devils were held to just six points offensively in the third quarter, but responded with 13 in the fourth. However, the offensive attack of Winnebago was just too much, and the Indians went on to win 47-39. Winnebago’s Lola Kearnes led all scorers with 17 points, including five three-pointers. Leading the way for Wayne was Sarah Maxson with 13 points, while Jalyn Zeiss added 10. With the loss, the Lady Blue Devils end their season at 14-12 overall.
