WSC Tracksters Set New School Records

WAYNE - Brad Wright, Carly Fehringer and Sara Wells set new school records for the Wayne State College indoor track and field teams Friday evening at the South Dakota Open while the rest of the Wildcat squad competed in Lincoln at the Nebraska Tuneup Open.
Fehringer, a junior from Wayne, won the weight throw by topping her own school record from earlier this year with a mark of 64’ 1 ¼” while also placing second in the shot put at 46’ 9”.  Lachel Milander recorded an NCAA provisional mark in the weight throw placing fourth at 58’ 7 ½” while also finishing eighth in the shot put.  Sara Wells also set a new school record in the shot put with a heave of 48’ 4 ¾”, topping the previous school record of 48’ 1 ¾” set by Katie Wilson in 2008. 
Senior men’s thrower Brad Wright had a stellar night for the Wildcats, setting a new school record in the shot put with an NCAA provisional mark of 52’ 6 ¾” to place fifth in the event.  The old school record was 52’ 5 ½” set by Randy Ditter in 1985.  He also achieved an NCAA provisional mark in the weight throw placing third at 57’ ¼”.     
                Wayne State will compete at the Northern Sun Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships in Mankato, Minnesota Friday and Saturday.
