WSC Cross Country Teams Win Academic Award

WAYNE - The Wayne State College men’s and women’s cross country teams have received the 2012 USTFCCCA (U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) All-Academic Team Awards announced Monday afternoon by the coaches association.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic cross country team, the school must have had a cumulative team grade point average of 3.00 or better and have compiled a team score at their respective NCAA regional championship.
The Wildcat women’s cross country team had a 3.022 grade point average and was one of 127 institutions in NCAA Division II to receive the honor. It was the third time in the last four years the WSC women’s cross country team earned the academic team award.
The Wayne State men’s cross country team recorded a 3.045 grade point average and was one of 88 institutions representing 21 conferences to receive the honor. It was the second time in the last three years that the Wildcat men’s cross country team received the coaches association academic honor.
