Championship Saturday Matchups Determined At Girls' State Tournament

LINCOLN (KTCH/KCTY) - The semifinal round of the girls’ state basketball tournament took place yesterday in Lincoln. In Class C1, Pierce beat Chadron 52-34. The Bluejays will face Kerney Catholic in the championship game at 4:30 this afternoon. In C2, Homer fell to #1 seeded Crofton 54-36. Homer will take on Hershey in the third place game at noon today. Class D1 saw a very exciting day of competition, as Pender came from behind to beat Emerson-Hubbard 52-48. And St. Mary’s upset Guardian Angels Central Catholic of West Point 58-52. In the D1 third place game today it’s Emerson-Hubbard vs. GACC at 2:00, while in the championship game it’s Pender vs. St. Mary’s at 8:30 this evening. And in class D2, after winning its first state tournament game in over 25 years, Osmond will face Wynot in the championship game at 11:00 this morning. Osmond beat Falls City Sacred Heart 51-28 yesterday, while Wynot edged Lindsay Holy Family 43-40.
