WAYNE (KTCH/KCTY) - Gov. Dave Heineman, along with Nebraska Farm Bureau president Steve Nelson and Greg Ibach from the Nebraska Dept. of Ag Directors were at the Doug and Mary Temme Dairy north of Wayne this afternoon.
The visit was in celebration of National Ag Day, one part of National Ag Week. Greg Ibach noted the progression of the Ag industry, saying that the ag industry is in a good financial standing, allowing for younger members to return to their community. Gov. Heineman commented on the strength of agriculture in the state of Nebraska. "We are second in the nation in cattle and feed, third in corn production, sixth in soybeans, second in ethanol, look what you're doing in dairy, and we'd like to see that expand," Heineman said. The Temme Dairy was one of at least four stops Gov. Heineman made as part of National Ag Day.
