Rod Harrington age 83

Funeral services for Rod Harrington age 83 of Laurel will be held at the Laurel City Auditorium on Wednesday March

27 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. at the Laurel City Auditorium with family present. Interment will be at the Laurel Cemetery in Laurel. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. He passed away Sunday at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Hasemann Funeral Home Laurel is in charge of the arrangements.

    Rodney Joseph Harrington was born November 11, 1929, at  Laurel to James and Grace (Searle) Harrington.  He attended Laurel High School.  Rod served in the United States Army Infantry in Korea. In 1960, he purchased the Mobil Oil Company in Laurel, which became Harrington Oil Company.  He retired in 2010. Rod enjoyed hunting, shooting sporting clays, woodworking, small engine repair, restoring antique vehicles, and especially his coffee group.
 
    Rod is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Kennedy of Bend, OR and Bette Dovel of Olympia, WA; sister-in-law, Phyl Harrington; nieces and nephews, Jean Gillam,  L.J., and Jim Harrington; Mike (Tracey) and Pat Kennedy; Karen Harrington, Jan Real, Tim (Karen) Harrington, Lisa (Fred) Hoffman; Pat (Andy) Nudelman, Peggy (Dennis) Croxen, Holly (Russ) Maloney, Judy (Jeff) Holsapple; Smokey Dovel and Kathy (Pat) Brougham; cousin, Gloria (Louis) Tolles; great nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; and all of his great friends.                                                                 
 
    Rod was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lawrence (Helen) Harrington, Douglas (Sally) Harrington, Bob (Babe) Harrington; brothers-in-law, Charles Kennedy and Les Dovel; nephew, Larry Harrington.
