Funeral services for Warren Baird age 86 of Wayne will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne on Tuesday

April 9 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne on Monday April 8 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Family Present. He passed away on Friday at Providence Medical Center in Wayne. Interment with Military Rites will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne. Memorials to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne. Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

    Warren Boyd Baird was born December 8, 1926, on a farm near Winside to Charles and Henrietta (Frahm) Baird.  He graduated from Winside High School in 1944, and then farmed until 1955. He served in the Army during the Korean War from January 1955-January 1957, as Spec. 3 Radio Telephone Operator in the 12th Field Artillery. Warren married Shirley Franzen, March 30, 1955. The couple farmed from 1957, until Warren retired in 1992. Two daughters were born to this marriage, Vickie and Carol.  Shirley died in 1988.  Warren later worked for Chuck Rutenbeck and helped Neyron and Gaylin Woodward farm. Warren married Bonnie (Grone) Dowling, November 30, 1997.  The couple lived in Wayne. Warren was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne.  He joined the Winside American Legion Post #252 in 1978, served as Post Commander for one year, and was the oldest active member.
     Warren is survived by his wife, Bonnie; two daughters, Vickie Damme of Wayne and Carol Hauser of Sioux City, IA; three granddaughters; three great-grandsons; step-children, Douglas (Susan) Dowling, Julie (Larry) Siebrandt and Monte (Rhonda) Dowling; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Earl (Vivian) Baird of Ohio and Edgar Baird of Georgia; sister, Alice (Neyron) Woodward of Altona; brother-in-law, Thaine Woodward of Concord; sister-in-law, Lynal Krueger of  Pierce; nieces and nephews.
     Warren was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Shirley, May 7, 1988; brother, Russell; sister, Doris Woodward; and son-in-law, DelRay Hauser; sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law; Arlene Bargholz, Darrell Franzen, Melvin (Janet) Franzen; and Roberta Baird; step-granddaughter, Krista Siebrandt.   
      Warren’s family appreciates your thoughts and kindness and invites you to lunch in the church fellowship hall following the committal service.
