Dola M. Husmann age 88 of Norfolk

Funeral services for Dola M. Husmann age 88 of Norfolk, NE will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stanton United Methodist Church in Stanton, NE.  Interment will be in the Pilger Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Pilger, NE and will continue on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Dola passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Stanton Health Center.

Dola Mae Husmann was born on December 31, 1924 to Daniel and Nellie (Chace) Wolverton. She received her elementary education at Stanton Co. District #7. Dola attended Stanton High School and graduated from Pilger High School. She taught in Stanton Co. School Districts #7,16,47,13,18 and Grades 5-6 at Pilger Public School. Dola went on to attend Wayne State College and Greeley Colorado State College. On October 15, 1945, Dola married Marvin Husmann at her parents’ home north of Pilger, NE. To this union two children were born, Donald Dale and Joella Ann Miller. Marvin and Dola lived and farmed north of Pilger on the Herman Husmann home place from 1946-1968. They moved to Cedar Rapids, IA, where Dola managed a fabric store. Later they moved to an acreage south of Wayne, NE, Dola was employed at the State National Bank and Trust in Wayne until she retired. She lived her final years at The Meadows and St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Care Center in Norfolk.

Dola was a member of the Pilger Methodist Church and taught Sunday School for a number of years. She attended Bible Study and Ladies Aid in Wayne, NE. Dola was active as a leader of the Kitchenettes 4-H Club in Stanton County for 10 years.

She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cooking, and Husker football.

Jason Goodell and children-Laura and Zoey
Daughter- Joella Miller of Kearney, NE and family
Christopher and wife Mary Miller and son Mitchell
Lindsey and husband Matt Connot and daughter Morgan

Dola was preceded in death by her parents, brother-Eugene Wolverton, and a great grandson-Christopher Goodell.

The family suggests that memorials be directed to the Pilger Senior Center and the Stanton Health Center.
