State Unemployment Rate Unchanged In March

LINCOLN (AP) - Authorities say Nebraska's preliminary unemployment rate for March was unchanged at 3.8 percent, matching the revised rates for the three previous months.
The Nebraska Labor Department said in a news release Friday that the rate was two-tenths of a point lower than in March 2012 and half the national March rate of 7.6 percent for this year. The 3.8 percent state rate is the second-lowest figure in the country, trailing only North Dakota's 3.3 percent for March. In northeast Nebraska, the unemployment rate in Wayne County fell to 3.0 percent, in fell to 2.8 percent in Cedar County and was down to 6.3 percent in Dakota County, 4.5 percent in Dixon County and 6.3 percent in Thurston County, while the unemployment rate in the Norfolk area, comprised of Madison, Stanton and Pierce counties, fell in March to 3.6 percent.
