Wildcat Baseball Lands Two On All-NSIC Squad

WAYNE - Senior pitcher Tadd Johansen and sophomore third baseman Michael Herman represent Wayne State College on the 2013 NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team announced Tuesday afternoon by the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota.
Johansen earned Second Team All-NSIC honors while Herman was named to the NSIC Gold Glove Team.
Johansen, a 6-4 180 pound senior from Elkhorn, Nebraska (Elkhorn HS), posted an 8-2 record for the Wildcats this season with a 2.89 ERA. In 11 appearances and 10 starts, Johansen had three complete games and two shutouts while throwing a team-high 62.1 innings this season. He allowed just 22 runs (20 earned) and gave up 60 hits while recording 57 strikeouts with just 13 walks. Johansen tied for second in the NSIC in wins this season, was seventh in innings pitched and strikeouts, 11th in fewest runs allowed and 12th in earned run average.
Herman, a 6-0 200 pound sophomore from Omaha, Nebraska (Roncalli Catholic HS), made just one error at third base this season for a .988 fielding percentage. At the plate, Herman recorded a .252 average with five doubles, one triple and 20 runs batted in while starting 39 games at third base.
Wayne State takes a 26-18 record into this week’s NSIC/U.S. Bank Baseball Tournament in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The Wildcats face #3 seed Augustana College on Wednesday afternoon in a 3 p.m. game at Dick Putz Field.
