Wayne High Student-Athletes Honored At Annual Banquet

WAYNE (KTCH/KCTY) – Wayne High athletes of past and present were honored at the annual athletic awards banquet Tuesday night. First to be recognized were the newest inductees into the Wayne High Athletic Hall of Fame, Mike Dunklau and Stanley “Mike” Mallette. Dunklau is a 1974 graduate of Wayne High and participated in football, track, basketball and wrestling. Mallette was head baseball coach at Wayne High from 1964-1984. His teams were state champions in Class B in 1968, 1970 and 1976. They were runners-up in 1969, 1971 and 1979.  Wayne High Athletic Director Rocky Ruhl was honored by Superintendent Mark Lenihan for his 20 years of service as boys' head basketball coach. Dozens of other awards were handed out during the banquet. The following is a list of special awards.

Larry Gamble Memorial Award:

Runza and KTCH/KCTY Scholar Athlete Award and Scholarship:

Wayne Booster Club Scholarship:
