WSC Professor Receives National Teaching Award

WAYNE - Dr. Patricia Arneson, Professor of Business at Wayne State College of Nebraska, was named the 2013 "National Collegiate/University Business Educator of the Year" by the National Business Education Association (NBEA). Arneson was recognized by NBEA at its award ceremony on April 19 during the NBEA national convention and trade show in Atlanta, Ga.
NBEA is the nation's leading professional organization and learned society devoted exclusively to serving individuals and groups engaged in instruction, administration, and research in Business and Technology Education. Members are middle, secondary, post-secondary and collegiate/university business educators from the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico as well as internationally.
Dr. Arneson is a member of the National Business Education Association (NBEA). She served as the 2013 national convention director for the Atlanta convention and the collegiate/university divisional program director for the 2011 NBEA convention in New Orleans, as well as the Nebraska membership director for NBEA.
Arneson is a member of the Mountain Plains Business Education and the Nebraska State Business Education associations. She has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards and recognitions, including the Mountain Plains "Payne-Porter Award" for membership recruitment and the Mountain Plains "Outstanding College/University Business Educator Award," as well as the NSBEA "Outstanding Service Award" for statewide contributions to Business Education, and "Outstanding College Business Educator" Award.
At Wayne State College, Dr. Arneson teaches undergraduate and graduate studies in the areas of Business Teacher Education, as well as Business Administration specializations of Human Resource Management, Office Administration and Real Estate. In addition, she serves as coordinator for the WSC Business Competition Day event, and student organization sponsor for Pi Omega Pi business education honorary and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). She has been the recipient of many teaching grants and awards throughout the years at Wayne State College. During her teaching tenure at Wayne State College, she has trained and supervised approximately 200 middle and secondary student teachers in Business Education.
Dr. Arneson holds a doctorate in Educational Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, a Masters Degree in Business Education, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Vocational Business Education, all from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
