Funeral services for Gene Topp age 51 of Winside will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church Winside on
Friday July 12 at 10:30 a.m. He passed away Tuesday at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Winside on Thursday from 5-8 pm with family present. Interment will be at the Pilger Cemetery in Pilger. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home in Winside.

Gene LeRoy Topp was born September 22, 1961, at Norfolk to LeRoy and Carol (Kahny) Topp. He graduated from Winside High School in 1980. Gene married June Meyer, November 7, 1980, at Yankton, SD. The couple lived in the Wayne and Winside areas. They divorced in 1996. Gene was the owner and operator of Topp Notch Body and Paint Specialist for several years, later worked with his brother, Dustin at Topp’s Body Shop in Pilger, and for area farmers. Gene attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Winside. He enjoyed being outdoors, farm work, fishing, and restoring his high school car, a 1969 Ford Gran Torino. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Gene is survived by his children, Matt (Donya) Topp of Pilger, Sheila (Jon) Jaeger of Winside, and Stephanie (Jason Wylie) Topp of Winside; parents, LeRoy and Carol Topp of Pilger; grandchildren, Katelyn and Kortney Jaeger, Tayven Topp; sister, Rhonda (Joe) Jindra of Pilger; brother, Dustin (Becky) Topp of Pilger; and nephew Alan Topp.
Gene was preceded in death by his grandparents.
