WAYNE - A one-vehicle rollover accident Wednesday evening claimed the life of a 19-year-old Wayne State College student.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, at around 5:30 pm, Amber Ernesti of West Point was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer southbound on a county road one mile east and about one and three quarters of a mile south of Wayne when she lost control on the gravel road. The vehicle then rolled once onto its top and she was thrown from the vehicle. Ernesti was transported to Providence Medical Center by the PMC ambulance where she was pronounced dead. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash and determined that seat belts were not in use at the time. They were assisted at the scene by the Wayne Fire Department, the Wayne Fire Department Rescue, and the Providence Medical Center Ambulance crews. Ernesti had been an employee of the Rainbow World Child Care Center in Wayne.
