Wayne High School will be honoring the parents and athletes of the Girls Golf team and the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams on Friday, August 28. Parents should be at the Wayne State College football field by 8:00 p.m. They will be introduced at half time of the game. Wayne will be hosting O’Neill.

Jordan Hooper Helps Lead Team USA To Gold

KAZAN, RUSSIA (NRN) - Nebraska’s Jordan Hooper made her first start in the World University Games in Kazan, Russia and it came in the gold medal game.

The Alliance, NE. native finished with nine points and nine rebounds in helping the U.S.A. secure a 90-71 win over Russia. Hooper scored five of the team’s first 13 points including a three pointer and three rebounds to help the U.S. jump out to a 13-3 lead. Hooper scored seven first-quarter points as the USA grabbed a 22-13 lead at the end of the quarter. She played 31 minutes. Entering the contest, Hooper had averaged 6.2 points and 5.0 rebounds while playing 12.6 minutes per game in the USA’s first five wins. In the tournament, Hooper finished with 6.5 points and 5.8 rebounds in 15.7 minutes per game.
