Daniel “Boone” was born on October 1, 1954 to Thomas and Margaret (Dalton) McCright in Wayne, NE. He graduated from Wayne High School in 1973. On March 2, 1973, Boone was united in marriage to Valorie Hirschman at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Laurel, NE. He worked as a Seward County Sheriff’s Deputy for many years and most recently worked for the Seward County Roads Department as Chief Sign Officer. In his free time, Boone enjoyed riding horses and roping, boating and fishing and especially spending time with his family and enjoying his grandchildren. Boone was a friend to many. He was always prepared to make others laugh with a good joke, and would go miles out of his way to help someone in need. Boone passed away on August 2, 2013 at his home in Seward, NE, at the age of 58 years, 10 months and 1 day, surrounded in love by his family after a valiant seven year battle with cancer. He redefined "fight" throughout that journey, never giving up, and always filled with hope. He is survived by his wife, Valorie McCright, Seward, NE; son, Daniel McCright (fiancee, Sheena Hall), Seward, NE; daughters, Melissa (Michael) Eberspacher, Beaver Crossing, NE, Trisha (Brad) Urbanek, Omaha, NE; Stephanie (Jason) Ruether, Beaver Crossing, NE; father, Tom McCright, Wayne, NE; grandchildren, Caden and Kenna Eberspacher, Grant and Kraig Urbanek, Samara, Kasten and Leyton Ruether, Owen and Shali McCright; brothers, Tom (Sheri) McCright, Omaha, NE, Randy (Chris) McCright, Omaha, NE, Dustan (Dawn) McCright, Littleton, CO, Jamie McCright, Staplehurst, NE, Mark McCright, Wayne, NE, Patrick (Elizabeth) McCright, Denver, CO, Jon McCright, Milford, NE, Ted (Adrienne) McCright, Denver, CO; sisters, Pam (Rick) North, Elkhorn, NE, Mary Ellen (Ron) Green, Spokane, WA, Susan (Royal) Cover, Omaha, NE, Paula (Joe) Vazzano, Omaha, NE. Boone was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret McCright; brothers, Stephen McCright and Jeff McCright; and sister, Katherine McCright.
