Wayne High Volleyball Openes Season With Pair Of Wins

WISNER (KTCH/KCTY) - The Wayne High volleyball opened its 2013 campaign with a pair of wins at the Northeast Nebraska Classic in Wisner. Wayne opened the tournament against Oakland-Craig, winning in two sets 25-9 and 25-20. Ashton Schweers was the leading hitter for Wayne, recording eight kills, while Emma Evetovich had 15 set assists and Meagan Backer recorded eight digs. In the second game, the Blue Devils downed North Bend Central, also in two sets, 25-15 and 25-16. Schweers again led the hitting attack, this time with 10 kills, to go along with 16 assists from Evetovich. Wayne High is now 2-0 on the year and continues their play at the Classic on Saturday.
