Sweetland Notches 300th Win

Posted: 10 September, 2013

WAYNE (KTCH/KCTY) – It was a monumental night for the Wayne High softball program and head coach Rob Sweetland Tuesday night, as both notched their 300th win. The Blue Devils hosted the visiting Vikings of Columbus Lakeview in Class C action. Wayne got on the scoreboard first, plating two runs in the bottom of the first, and adding a run in the second. Things really got out of hand in the third, when the Blue Devils erupted for eight runs in the third to lead 11-0. That would end up being the final score, as Lakeview was unable to score a run. Kendall Gamble notched the shutout win for Wayne, allowing just one hit and a walk, while striking out six. Offensively for Wayne, Danica Schaefer had a pair of doubles and two RBIs, Jalyn Zeiss had a double and an RBI, while Abbie Hix, Victoria Kranz and Lauren Gilliland each record RBI hits. With the win, Wayne is now 6-3 on the year and will travel to Tekamah-Herman on Thursday.

Congratulations to Coach Sweetland and Wayne High softball on win number 300!
