Posted: 13 September, 2013

WAYNE (KTCH/KCTY) - The weekly Wayne Chamber coffee was held this morning at the Wayne Public Library, and the featured speaker was state Senator Beau McCoy. On Tuesday, McCoy formally announced his candidacy for the Governor’s race in 2014, joining the Republican primary. While at the chamber event, McCoy made clear what his focus would be as Governor. “Certainly cutting taxes and controlling spending, because that’s really how we get to providing for the best quality education for the young people in Nebraska” McCoy said. “And then it’s partnering with our businesses, partnering with our corporations and those that want to bring jobs here to make sure we have the best paying jobs for our young people. That’s how we grow our population.” McCoy joins a GOP primary that already includes Senators Charlie Janssen of Fremont, Tom Carlson of Holdrege, as well as State Auditor Mike Foley and businessman Pete Ricketts.
