Blue Devil Football Suffers First Loss Of Season

Posted: 14 September, 2013

WAYNE (KTCH/KCTY) - The Wayne High football hosted South Sioux City in its quest for 3-0 Friday night. The Blue Devils jumped out early when Jalen Barry connected with Demetrius Alexander for a 27-yard scoring strike to give Wayne a 7-0 lead. Alexander would reach pay dirt again, this time plunging in from three yards out. Wayne led 14-3 at halftime. The Cardinals would crawl back into the ballgame and score their only touchdown on a long pass play midway through the fourth quarter and eventually took a 15-14 lead. That would prove to be the final score, as Wayne was turned away on a fourth down deep in South Sioux City territory. With the loss, Wayne is now 2-1 on the year.
