WSC Women's XC Takes Fourth At Herb Blakely Invite

MADISON, S.D. - The Wayne State College women’s cross country team placed fourth out of eight teams with 111 points Saturday at the Herb Blakely Invitational held at the Madison Country Club and hosted by Dakota State University.
Mount Marty captured the team title with 25 points followed by Northwestern College of Iowa in second at 46 and Iowa Western Community College third with 76 points. Following Wayne State in the team standings were Dakota Wesleyan (149), Iowa Lakes CC (163) and Briar Cliff (171).
Aryn Smidt, a freshman from West Point, was the top Wildcat finisher coming in 10th place out of 62 runners with a time of 20:40 on the 5,000 meter course. Plattsmouth freshman Andrea DeSimone was next in 19th at 21:17 followed by Laura Camacho 31st in 22:33.
Other Wildcat finishers included Jaden Wamstad 33rd at 22:39, Holli Erickson was 34th in 22:4, Molly Kingsley took 35th at 22:44, Cassidy Tinsley was 38th at 23:05, Nicole Garrison 46th at 23:46 and Jordanna Trausch 53rd in 24:22.
Wayne State will compete next weekend at the University of Nebraska/Woody Greeno Invitational in Lincoln, Nebraska.
