Brueggemann Paces WSC Men's XC

MADISON, S.D. - Sophomore Justin Brueggemann placed sixth out of 74 runners to lead the Wayne State College men’s cross country team to a third place finish Saturday morning at the Herb Blakely/Dakota State Invitational held at the Madison Country Club in Madison, South Dakota.
Northwestern College of Iowa captured the team title with 22 points, easily ahead of second place Iowa Western CC with 45 points. Wayne State was third with 92 points with Mount Marty closed behind at 96 points while Briar Cliff (135) and Iowa Lakes CC (181) rounding out the team standings.
Brueggemann, a sophomore from Plattsmouth, placed sixth overall on the 8,000 meter course with a time of 27:03. Senior Greg Tracy followed in 14th place at 27:22 with freshman Corbin Lehn 27th overall in 28:16. Other WSC finishers were Taylor Witt (42nd – 29:06), Adam Hochstein (47th – 29:50), Nick Schmidt (48th – 29:56), Brody Kelley (51st – 30:18), Joey Black (55th – 30:43) and Jared Meister (61st – 31:19).
Wayne State competes again next weekend when the Wildcats travel to Lincoln for the University of Nebraska/Woody Greeno Invitational.
