Wayne State Volleyball Remains Undefeated

PUEBLO, Colo. - Sophomore rightside hitter Elizabeth Gebhardt recorded a career-high 11 kills while hitting .556 for the match to lead #8 Wayne State College in a 25-13, 25-11 and 25-20 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State at the CSU Pueblo Ramada ThunderWolves Volleyball Classic Saturday night.
The Wildcats improve to 8-0 on the season with the win while Southwestern Oklahoma State falls to 3-6.
WSC held the Lady Bulldogs to a -.010 attack percentage, allowing just 16 SWOSU kills while forcing 17 attack errors. The Wildcats hit .171 in the win and held a sizeable 43-16 advantage in kills along with an 8-1 edge in service aces.
Senior Cori Hobbs led WSC in hitting with 13 kills and 11 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Gebhardt followed with her career-high 11 kills and sizzling .556 attack percentage. Sophomore libero Courtney VanGroningen notched a match-high 20 digs followed by Katie Hughes with 13 digs and four service aces. Sophomore setter Leisa McClintock was credited with 32 set assists in the win.
Wayne State opens Northern Sun Conference play Thursday evening, hosting the University of Sioux Falls in a 7 p.m. match at Rice Auditorium that is the home opener for the Wildcats this season.
