Funeral services for Lois Ankeny Age 89 of Laurel will be held at the United Methodist Church in Laurel on Monday at 10:30 a.m. The Officiate will Rev. Jaime Farias. Visitation will be held at the United Methodist Church
in Laurel on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present. Interment will be at the Concord Cemetery in Concord. Memorials may be directed in care of the family for a later designation. She passed away Wednesday at Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel. Arrangements with Hasemann Funeral Home of Laurel.

Lois Adene Kelley Ankeny, daughter of Oscar and Janie (Robson) Kelley, was born January 6, 1924, on a farm northeast of Dixon, Nebraska. She graduated in 1941 from Dixon Public School, and went on to attend Wayne Teacher’s College. She taught in country schools in Dixon County and in the Belden, Nebraska School. Lois married Ronald Ankeny on February 14, 1948, at the Methodist Church in Dixon. They farmed north of Dixon, and Lois lived there until she moved to Hillcrest Assisted Living in 2010. Lois was a member of the Dixon United Methodist Church until its closing. She continued to be a member of Dixon United Methodist Women and became a member of the United Methodist Church in Laurel. She enjoyed spending time with her family, growing violets, writing news for local newspapers, quilting, doing puzzles, and taking part in church activities.
Lois is survived by two sons, Donald (Loryn) Ankeny of Chicago, Illinois and Joe (Mary) Ankeny of Dixon; one daughter, Margaret “Maggie” (Scott) Huetig of Concord; six grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband in 2006, seven brothers and sisters, and one grandchild.
