Joan F. Carhart age 85 of Wayne

Memorial services for Joan Carhart age 85 of Wayne will be held at Journey Christian Church in Wayne on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Officiate will be Rev. Troy Reynolds. Memorial visitation will be held at Journey Christian Church in Wayne on Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with family present. Private interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne. Memorials may be directed to Journey Christian Church in Wayne or the Alzheimer’s Association. She passed away Saturday at the Careage Campus of Care in Wayne. Arrangements with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

Joan Carhart, 85, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2013 at Careage Campus of Care in Wayne. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday October 2 at Journey Christian Church in Wayne. A time of visitation with family will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Journey Christian Church on Tuesday October 1. A private burial with family will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. 
 
Joan Faye Carhart was born to Roscoe and Ella (Morgan) Jones on April 22, 1928 in a farm house southwest of Wayne. Joan graduated from Geneva High School though received most of her education in Wayne schools and attended Wayne State College.  She married Charles V. Carhart in 1951 and they recently celebrated their 62nd anniversary.  Joan and Chuck raised three children while living in Baltimore, Maryland, and Neligh and Wayne, Nebraska. Joan was active in P.E.O. and as a member of Journey Christian Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, playing bridge, watching football, and most of all, being with family.
 
Joan is survived by her husband, Chuck, her daughters, Kim Hepburn of Elk Point, South Dakota and Jill (Mark) Lambert of Nashville, Tennessee, and son Bill (Joyce) Carhart of North Platte, Nebraska; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; and a number of other relatives and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and sisters.
Memorial donations may be directed to Journey Christian Church in Wayne or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
