Funeral services for Willis Johnson age 87 of Norfolk formerly of Wayne will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne on Sunday from

4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with family present. Visitation will also be held from 9am until service time at Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk.
Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne. Memorials may be directed to the Lutheran Hour. He died Thursday at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

     Willis E. Johnson was born November 16, 1925, on the family farm near Wakefield, to Andrew and Clara (Lilje) Johnson. He was  baptized, December 13, 1925 and confirmed, May 21, 1939 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wakefield. He attended country schools through the 8th grade and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1943.  Willis married Donna Sorensen, January 9, 1949, at the First United Methodist Church in Wayne. The couple farmed until 1952. Willis was the State Farm Insurance Agent in Wayne from 1956 until 1988.  They retired to Bella Vista, ARand in October of 2001, moved to a warmer climate, Siesta Village in  Weslaco, TX.  In 2005, they moved back to Nebraska to be close to their children. Willis attended Faith Lutheran Church in Bella Vista, AR for 14 years and served on the church board, was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne and then Norfolk.  He recently entered The Golden Living Center in Norfolk. Willis enjoyed woodworking, fishing, golfing, doing puzzles, traveling, and having fun parties with their family and friends.
     Willis is survived by his wife, Donna; daughters, Virginia (Gary) Kirch of Blair, Vivian Fox (Bob Blaser) of Norfolk, and Peggy (Charles) Menke of Norfolk; son, David (Ann) Johnson of Norfolk; grandchildren, Aaron Menke, April (Mike) King , Tanya  (Travis) Reagan, Teri Fox, Toni (Ben) Deutschman, Amanda Menke, Elizabeth Johnson; 8 great-grandchildren, Chase, Hayden, Mason, Aubrey, Haylee, Aiden, Axton, and Brock; brother, Derold (Irene) Johnson of Omaha; sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson of Wayne; nieces and nephews.                                    
     Willis was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Melvin Johnson; and sister, Leora (Warren) Austin.
